The Havre wrestling team had a rare thing happen to it when it traveled to Miles City this weekend for the Cowboy Invitational not one Havre wrestler took first place.
Seven Pony wrestlers did place, leading Havre to a fourth-place finish with 153.5 points. Two teams from Bismarck, N.D., and one from Sheridan, Wyo., placed ahead of Havre.
K.P. Fisher and Chad Hedges both earned second-place finishes for Havre. At 130 pounds, Hedges lost by decision 3-0 to Andy Sabot of Bismarck Century. Fisher lost by fall in 5:57 to Alex Englehart of Bismarck in the 160-pound weight class.
Garrett Hanson, who lost in the semifinals, wrestled back for a third-place finish with a 17-1 technical fall over Chuck Madler of Glendive. Jake Szudera and Jeff Hedges also came back from the loser's bracket to take fourth place in the 140 and 105-pound weight classes, respectively.
Adding a fifth-place finish was Kevin Velk, and Greg Leyba took sixth for the Ponies.
The Ponies will be in action next with duals against Belgrade and Anaconda Saturday.
