Montana State University-Northern head coach Kevin Emerick and his Skylights (15-4) showed signs of frustration Thursday night in their 77-64 loss to Montana Tech.
After a personal foul call on a Skylights player, Emerick received two technical fouls in a row and was ejected from the game. Paula Owens also had a technical foul in the game, making a second-half comeback difficult.
The Skylights were down by 13 at the half due in part to struggles shooting. The Skylights shot just over 31 percent for the first half.
Owens and Angee Thomas were the only two Northern players with over 10 points on the game. Owens had 22 and Thomas scored 20.
Four players scored in double figures for the Orediggers, led by Stacy Ferentchak (16), Hannah Gunderson (12) and Tricia Slaughter and Melissa Ritter each with 10.
Northern shot 34 percent for the game and only made 2-of-10 three-point baskets.
One key to the game was free throws. The Skylights shot 64 percent from the free-throw line, making 16-of-25, while Tech shot 77 percent, making 30-of-39 free throws.
The Skylights and Lights play Saturday at Western.
