Squirts team takes fourth place at Helena Tourney

The Bullhook Bottoms/Short Stop Squirts hockey team played four games this weekend, participating in the Helena Tournament.

The Havre team had two big wins in the first two games, followed by two tough losses. The scores for the four games are as follows: Havre 7, Helena 4; Havre 12, Helena #2, 0; Havre 4, Helena #1, 12; Havre 4, Bozeman 5.

In Havre's first game, Beau Briese led the Squirts with three goals, two assisted by Mason Sheppard and one by Shane Kemmer. Tyler Ellis and Cameron Schilling added goals with Dylan Patterson, Kemmer, and Briese adding the assists. Sheppard and Kemmer each also scored unassisted goals.

Mason Sheppard was goalie for Havre's second game and earned a shutout. Ryan Armstrong and Shane Kemmer each had outstanding efforts with five goals apiece. Cameron Schilling and Adam Briese rounded out the scoring barrage with one goal each. One of Armstrong's goals was unassisted with Adam Briese, Schilling, Beau Briese and Jarrett McLain assisting the other four. Kemmer had three unassisted goals, with Adam Briese, Ryan Armstrong and Dylan Patterson with assists. Armstrong also assisted Schilling's goal and Haley McLain and Kemmer combined for the assist on Adam Briese's goal.

The Squirts' second game Saturday ended in a 12-4 loss at the hands of Helena's number one team. Kemmer had two goals, one unassisted, one assisted by Tyler Ellis, Beau Briese had one unassisted goal, and Sheppard scored one goal with Ellis with the assist.

Ryan Armstrong saved 18-of-30 shots as goalie.

Playing the Bozeman Stingers for third and fourth place, the Squirts lost a close game, 5-4, in

overtime. Mason Sheppard scored one goal, assisted by Brett Barros and Beau Briese had an unassisted goal.

In the overtime shootout, Beau Briese and Adam Briese each scored one goal.

Armstrong once again was goalie with 19 saves in 24 attempts.

The Squirts came away with a fourth-place plaque.

The Squirts will travel to Helena again next weekend to play league games against Helena. The next home games will be the weekend of Feb. 9.

Playing three home games this weekend, the Koefod Insurance Bantam team had some tough luck, winning one game and losing two.

Havre's first game was a matchup with Great Falls. Despite 45 saves by goalie Mark Larson, the Bantam team lost 5-3.

Andy Hanson, Tyson Anderson and Josh Strissel each had one goal. Ben Erickson, Strissel and Anderson added assists.

Coming back on Saturday, the Havre team defeated Miles City 6-1. Ben Erickson and Tyson Anderson each had two goals with Andy Hanson and Josh Morse each adding one. Hanson, Zach Musson and Brittany Kemmer had assists.

Goalie Mark Larson had 32 saves in the game.

Miles City bounced back the Sunday with a 4-1 win. Tyson Anderson and Andy Hanson combined for the lone Havre goal.

Shiloh Barrett had 26 saves as goalie.

The Bantam's next games are this weekend in the Bantam Blowout Tournament Friday through Sunday.
