Ice Hawks win final two games before state

The Havre Ice Hawks played their final two games of the regular season Friday and Saturday at the Havre Ice Dome.

The Ice Hawks' hope to have a strong showing the weekend before state was evident, as they defeated Helena in both games.

Havre won 6-1 Friday night and followed Saturday morning with a 5-3 win.

Brett Patrick had the hat trick in Friday's game with three goals. Patrick's goals were assisted by Garrett Drake and Chazz Hurlburt.

Brothers Jon and Jason Johnstone each added unassisted goals, and Cody McLain and Drake combined for the final Havre score.

Saturday found Levi Briese dominating with two goals, assisted by Cody McLain and Drake. Corey Stremcha, J.R. Morse and Mark Benjamin also added goals for the Ice Hawks. Tyson Roe had the assist on Stremcha's goal, with Jordon Patterson assisting Morse's. Benjamin's was unassisted.

Eric McLain guarded the goal for the weekend for the Ice Hawks.

The Ice Hawks will wrap up their season with a trip to the state tournament Saturday through Monday in Bozeman.
