NED SUN CHILD, Obituary

ROCKY BOY Ned "Thunder Child" Sun Child, 78, father, brother and friend walked on to the other side Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at a Havre care facility of natural causes.

Wake service to begin 4 p.m. today at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at the Rocky Boy Church with Fr. Pete Guthneck officiating.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rocky Boy Church. Burial is to follow at Eagle Lookout.

Ned was born April 14, 1923, to John Two Teeth and Fanny Oats. He spent most of his life living in Rocky Boy and Great Falls. He was educated at Hay Stack and the Agency School, both located on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation. His early years were spent working for various ranches in the area. From there, he went to work on missile silos, where he picked up the cement finishing profession. He was a renowned cement finisher. His work took him all over Montana. It can be seen all over the Havre area, including the Holiday Village Mall, the Havre Clinic, and the MSU-Northern Library. Ned loved life and it showed through his large family.

Ned had numerous hobbies. Among his favorite was spending time with his family and watching the Northern Stars Basketball Team. He had many stories to tell, and did so every chance he got. Ned will be remembered for his stories, his work, his love for his family, and his smile. "Dad, we love you and you will be missed!"

He was preceded in death by his father, John Two Teeth; mother, Fanny Sun Child; brothers, James Two Teeth, Robert Two Teeth, Joe Two Teeth, Eddie Two Teeth; sister, Mary Jane Two Teeth; three grandchildren.

Survivors include the mothers of his children, Teresa Houle and his wife, Rose Bernard; sons, Lloyd Sun Child and Alfred Gopher, both of Great Falls, Roy Sun Child, Clyde Sun Child, Darrell Ned Sun Child, Dallas Sun Child, Darin Sun Child, Larry Bernard, all of Rocky Boy; daughters, Arlene Bodine of San Antonio, Texas, Cindy Sun Child of Spokane, Wash., Doreen Sun Child, Kimberly Patacsil, Violet Sun Child, Margaret Bernard, Brenda Bernard, Christine Blatt, all of Rocky Boy; brothers, John Sun Child, Bruce Sun Child, Robert Oats, all of Rocky Boy, Chuck Two Teeth of Helena, Dan Oats of Fort Hall, Idaho; sisters, Dorthy Small, Helen Parker, Irene Mitchell and Zella Nault, all of Rocky Boy, and Nancy LaMere of Box Elder; 64 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren
