Mike Erickson recorded his first victory as interim coach of the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team Saturday night, leading the Skylights to a six-point overtime win over Montana Tech.
In a game that saw the teams commit a combined 42 turnovers, the Skylights outlasted the Orediggers, 91-85.
Tamecia Watkins led the Skylights (18-9 overall, 5-7 Frontier Conference) with 21 points, eight boards and nine assists. Watkins, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, also racked up four steals and three blocks.
Paula Owens added 20 points and seven rebounds for the Skylights.
Watkins and Owens, along with Amanda Walter and Sarah Gaugler, played in their last home game for Northern. Walter finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while Gaugler went scoreless with two rebounds.
The upset-minded Orediggers (8-21, 4-9) were led by Lindsey Buehler and Tricia Slaughter, who combined for 41 points.
The regular season for the Skylights concludes this weekend on the road in Helena Thursday against Carroll College and Saturday at Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
