The Big Sky Gymnastics team recently traveled to Bozeman to compete in the Bozeman Blizzard.
In Class 7, Tyson Gruber placed second all around with a 51.7 and Thomas Gruber placed 26th all around with a 43.2. In Class 6, Carson Pollington placed first on vault with a 9.0 and 12th all around with a 45.6. In Class 5, Jess Hannon placed 8th all around with a 43.0 and in Class 4, Stephan Bushard placed first on floor with an 8.7 and fourth all around with a 42.7.
For the girls division at Level 7, Natasha Dryland placed 14th all around with a 28.3. Also in Level 7, Kim Collins specialized on floor with a 7.8 and vault with a 7.5. In Level 8 competition, Casea Pollington places sixth all around with a 29.85, Jessica Nolan placed seventh all around with a 28.65 and Jamie-Lynn Keeler placed eighth all around.
Big Sky's Optional Team traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Go For It Classic. Over 700 kids from all over the country competed at this meet.
Preston Bushard, 21, in the Elite Class, traveled with Big Sky Gymnastics, but was representing Montana State University-Northern. Preston Bushard took the top honors at the meet with a first-place all around with a 45.9 in the Class 2 Elite Competition. He placed first on floor, pommel horse and rings with secon-place finishes on vault and parallel bars. Preston Bushard has competed for Big Sky Gymnastics for the last 10 years and is the first athlete in gymnastics to compete for Northern.
Competing for Big Sky Gymnastics in Las Vegas was Brandon Bushard, age 16, Class 2. Brandon Bushard placed second all around with a 41.2, next to his brother, Preston, in the Class 2 Elite Competition. Brandon Bushard placed first on vault and second on rings, pommel horse and floor.
In the girls' competition, Casea Pollington, 14, placed ninth all around in Level 8 with a score of 30.4. Pollington placed seventh on vault with an 8.1 and eighth on floor with a 8.15. Jessica Nolan, 13, also competed at Level 8 with a 7.55 on bars and a 7.25 on vault. Nolan fell ill and was unable to finish the competition.
Since these two competitions, the girls team traveled to Kalispell to compete in the Aloha Invite and the boys team traveled to Great Falls to compete in the Electric City Open. Preston Bushard and the Optional Team traveled to Reno, Nev. last weekend, competiting in the Hilton Invitational.
