Willis Edgar Myers, 71, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at his residence of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Alfred Ebel officiating. Burial with military honor will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
Willis was born July 7, 1930 to Walter E. and Ruby E. (Holt) Myers in Great Falls. He attended schools in Floweree and graduated from Fort Benton High School. Willis entered in to the United States Army in 1951 and served in Korean War in the infantry. He was honorably discharged in August 1953. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Combat Infantry Badge and the United Nations Service Medal.
After the service Willis returned to Floweree and worked at the grain elevator in Carter and then farmed in Floweree and Fife.
On March 26, 1955, he married Louise Mangels in Havre at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. To this union four sons were born. The couple later moved to Havre where Willis worked as a bulk fuel dealer.
His hobbies were his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Lions and of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Myers of Havre; sons, Gregg (Sherrie) Myers of Coon Rapids, Minn., Gordon (Robin) Myers of Havre, Keith Myers of Havre, Kevin (Julie) Myers of Billings; sisters, Ida Jo Neiffer of Fort Shaw, Shirley Clark of Fort Benton; brothers, Walter (Lily Mae) Myers of Hingham, Robert (Shirley) Myers of Floweree, Gerald (Edna) Myers of Carter; 13 grandchildren.
Memorials in Willis's honor may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
