The Montana Department of Transportation is planning two railroad crossing projects.
The first project is in Hill County on a county road that intersects with U.S. Highway 2 about 4.3 miles west of Havre. The crossing is about one-half mile north of Highway 2 on the county road. The second project is near the town of Zurich, in Blaine County. The railroad crossing is on a county road that is just north of the road's intersection with U.S. Highway 2 and approximately six-tenths of a mile west of Zurich.
Work will include the installation of railroad signals with post-mounted flashing lights and gates.
MDT is providing the funding while the railroad is responsible for the installation and construction work.
Construction by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is expected to begin in the fall.
