After a second-half comeback, the Montana State University-Northern Lights basketball team needed overtime to defeat Westminster Thursday night, but the Lights couldn't muster the same energy to mount a comeback Saturday against Lewis-Clark State College.
The Lights led early, but after the nine-minute mark in the first half, the Warriors took charge. Down by only six at the half, Lewis-Clark outscored the Lights 49-36 in the second half to come away with an 87-68 win.
Unusual for the Lights, shooting was not a strong point of Saturday's game. The Lights shot 39.4 percent from the field in the first half and only 37.7 percent for the game. Before conference play, the Lights were shooting nearly 56 percent on two-point shots.
Lewis-Clark also outrebounded the Lights 39-29. The Warriors pulled down 29 defensive boards, to hold the Lights to only four second-chance points on the game.
Perhaps one of the only bright spots for the Lights was having only 10 turnovers. The Lights led in assists 16-10 and had three blocked shots on the game.
Sta'Fon Lawson scored 23 points to lead the way for the Warriors.
Northern was led by K.C. Moultrie and Josh Hays with 13 each and Faheem Nelson with 11.
The Lights and Skylights will take on the University of Great Falls on Saturday night.
