The Montana State University-Northern Skylights volleyball team has signed Colleen McGuire, a 5-foot-10 middle hitter from Canada.
McGuire graduated in May from high school in Martensville, Saskatchewan. As captain, she led her team, ranked 13th at the end of the volleyball year, to a third-place finish in provincials, Skylights head coach Lisa Handley said.
"Colleen has played organized club volleyball since she was in fifth grade, so she brings with her a lot of playing experience," Handley said. "She has a fast arm, as well as a great one-foot takeoff for step-arounds and slides. Plus Colleen gives us some needed backcourt skills. She is very vocal and aggressive when she is on the court, plus she hates to lose."
McGuire will join the Skylights squad this month for conditioning and spring ball. She is majoring in the industrial arts education program and will minor in art.
