Alta Mallon, 86, died Jan. 9, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital due to liver cancer.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
Alta was born in Chinook to Rupert and Mildred (Watson) Dowen on March 16, 1915. She attended Chinook schools and graduated from Chinook High School in 1933.
Alta worked in county government prior to her marriage to Fred Mallon on Dec. 31, 1936, in Chinook. She was a full-time homemaker and community volunteer.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and six brothers.
Mallon is survived by her daughter, Carla Jean D'Hooge of Flagstaff, Ariz.; son, Gary Lee Mallon of Roswell, Ga.; brother, James Dowen of Havre; four grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.
