Havre Syntech Ice Hawks win two over Missoula

The Havre Koefod Insurance Bantam hockey team also traveled to the end of Montana this weekend, playing three games in Miles City.

The Havre team faced a tough opponent in Gillette for two games on Saturday, scoring three goals combined in the two games. The Bantams lost the first game 5-2 and the second 10-1.

Tyson Anderson and Josh Morse scored goals in the first game, with Morse assisting Anderson's goal. Morse's goal was unassisted.

Goalie Shiloh Barrett had 40 saves in the game.

In the second game versus Miles City, Josh Strissel and Josh Morse combined for the lone score for Havre.

Shiloh Barrett had 25 saves in the loss.

Sunday morning brought better luck for the Bantams, earning a shut out over Miles City.

Josh Strissel and Ben Erickson combined for the only Havre score in the 1-0 win.

Mark Larson earned the shutout at goalie with 25 saves.

The next games for the Bantam team are Friday at 7:45 against Great Falls, Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m. against Miles City.

The Bullhook Bottoms/Short Stop Squirts were also on the road in Canada, skating in the Frontier Tournament.

The Squirts won one of three games on Saturday, first facing Consul-Eastend.

The Consul-Eastend team defeated the Havre team 9-2. Ryan Armstrong and Beau Briese had two unassisted goals to account for the Havre scores.

In a tight game against Shaunavon, Havre lost 5-4 at the end.

Beau Briese scored two goals, both assisted by Mason Sheppard, Mason Sheppard scored one goal, assisted by Beau Briese and Adam Briese scored the final Havre goal, assisted by Mason Sheppard.

Havre's lone win of the day also came in a close game, defeating Val Marie 6-5.

Ryan Armstrong and Beau Briese each scored two goals on the game. Armstrong's goals were assisted by Shane Kemmer, while Briese had one unassisted goal and one assisted by Cameron Schilling. Mason Sheppard added an unassisted goal and Shane Kemmer had one assisted by Ryan Armstrong.

The Squirts were home on Sunday, taking on the Billings Bulls, a game that ended in an 8-8 tie.

Shane Kemmer scored three goals in the game and Mason Sheppard scored two. Kemmer had one unassisted goal, one assisted by Cameron Schilling and the other by Beau Briese. Sheppard's goals were both unassisted.

Cameron Schilling, Haley McLain and Dylan Patterson also scored goals for the Havre team. Schilling's goal was assisted by Shane Kemmer and Patterson's by Ryan Armstrong. McLain's goal was unassisted.

The Squirt team will be competing in a tournament in Helena Friday through Sunday.

The busy weekend for Havre hockey continued with the Havre Syntech Ice Hawks facing the Missoula Bruins in two games at the Havre Ice Dome.

Thanks in part to the strong defensive play of Willy Schilling and Andrew Linquist in Saturday's game, Havre skated to a 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Tyler Boyce, Michael Erickson, Todd Roe and Willy Schilling all scored goals for the Ice Hawks in the first game. Roe's and Schilling's goals were both unassisted. Mike Morelli and Matt Hartman combined for the assist on Boyce's goal and Schilling had the assist on Erickson's goal.

David Zentmire had 16 saves as goalie.

Willy Schilling had another strong defensive game Sunday and with the strong play on offense of Nick Nault and Matt Hartman, the Havre team racked up another win, 4-2.

Tyler Boyce scored two goals to lead the way for the Ice Hawks. Boyce had one unassisted goal, with the other assisted by Mike Morelli. Todd Roe and Matt Hartman scored the other Havre goals. Roe's was assisted by Nick Nault and Matt Hartman. Roe assisted Hartman's goal.

Goalie Michael Erickson had 14 saves.

Nick Nault earned the "Player of the week" nomination for offense, while Willy Schilling earned the honor for his strong defensive showing in both games.

The Syntech Ice Hawks are in Billings Saturday for two games and Sunday for another two. Havre will face Billings at noon on Saturday and will take on Miles City at 3:15 p.m. On Sunday, Havre will once again face Billings at 7:45 a.m. and will follow with Gillette at 11:15 a.m.
