A Chinook woman was charged by the Montana Highway Patrol after her vehicle overturned on U.S. Highway 2 early Monday.
The Highway Patrol charged June Styer, 40, with driving under the influence, careless driving and driving without insurance after she crashed a 1985 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer at 12:05 a.m. Monday.
Styer was treated briefly at Northern Montana Hospital and released, said Cleo Phillips, Styer's mother.
"She did bang her head but she seems OK," said Phillips, who lives in Malta. "They only kept her for a couple hours in the hospital."
As she was westbound near mile 405 in Blaine County, Styer's vehicle drifted off the right side of the road, prompting her to steer sharply back onto the road, the highway patrol said. When Styer counter-steered to straighten her path, the vehicle went into a guardrail on the north side.
The impact caused Styer's truck to rotate clockwise, and it overturned onto its roof, the highway patrol said. It came to rest in the westbound lane. The damage to the Blazer was estimated at more than $1,000.
Styer could not be reached for comment.
