GRACE DESTAFFANY, Obituary

CONRAD Grace "Babe" Marie DeStaffany, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at a Conrad medical center.

Services were this morning at the Conrad Mission Church.

She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Big Creek, Mo., to Benjamin and Mary Cloninger and moved to Bozeman with her family at the age of 3. On Oct. 6, 1934, she married Clarence "Bud" DeStaffany in Bozeman.

Grace and her husband lived in Scobey and Power, where he taught school. She served two years in the Women's Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Ogden, Utah. After the war, she and her husband moved to Conrad, where they farmed with his parents.

In 1979, she retired from farming and moved into Conrad. For the past three years, she resided at the Beehive Home Assisted Living facility.

She was a member of the American Legion, VFW Auxiliary and Pondera Pioneer Nursing Home Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud" DeStaffany in March 1970, her parents and five siblings.

Survivors include her son, Joe of Conrad, and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the DeStaffany Memorial Scholarship Fund.
