Skylights win second straight

Things have calmed for the Montana State University-Northern Skylights and it is showing.

With a 70-64 win Thursday night over the Carroll College Fighting Saints, the Skylights won their second straight game under interim head coach Mike Erickson.

Four players scored in double figures for Northern, led by Tamecia Watkins and Jenny Balgua with 13 each. Senior Paula Owens followed with 12 points and seven rebounds and Amanda Walter with 10 points and five rebounds.

Northern (19-9 overall, 6-7 Frontier Conference) took a slim 29-27 lead into the half. Despite Carroll (14-16 overall, 6-7 conference) shooting slightly better in the second half, the Skylights scored four more points than the Saints to sneak out the 70-64 win.

Three Carroll players scored in double figures, led by Nikki McElligott and Charla Ray with 14 and Carly VanDyke with 12. McElligott added 12 rebounds with Ray adding seven.

The Skylights wrap up their regular season Saturday night at Rocky Mountain at 6 p.m.
