North Central Montana CattleWomen and North Central Montana Stockgrowers again are offering a scholarship to a worthy student who resides in Blaine County, Hill County or the northern part of Chouteau County.
The CattleWomen contribute the interest from a scholarship fund started in 1983 when friends and family of Betty Weaver Keller contributed money in her memory. Another large amount was received after the death of Rose Faber. StockGrowers give a larger amount each year to the scholarship. The recipient may count on receiving at least $400.
A high school senior who has maintained a C or 2.0 grade point average in high school is eligible. Those who apply for the scholarship must be interested in one of the following fields: agriculture (all areas); family and consumer science in the areas of education, extension, or foods, nutrition and dietetics; and elementary education. This year, it will also be offered to those who will be sophomores, juniors and seniors in college.
No money is paid until the student sends a copy of his/her grades to the treasurer of the fund. If the student has maintained a C or 2.0 grade point average, one-half of the amount is sent to the student. This process is repeated for the second semester.
Application forms may be obtained at the following schools: Hays/Lodge Pole, Turner, Harlem and Chinook in Blaine County; Big Sandy in Chouteau County; and Havre, KG, Blue Sky, Box Elder and Rocky Boy in Hill County.
