SPRINGFIELD, Ore. Jesse Lyle Sooy of Springfield, Ore., 92, passed away May 25, 2002, in Springfield of causes related to age.
There are no plans for a service.
Lyle was born April 15, 1910, in Jennings, Okla., to Clyde and Jesse Sooy. He moved with his family to Havre in 1916.
He graduated from high school and attended Northern Montana College in Havre, where in 1931 he was in the first graduating class.
He married Luella Frerich in Wolf Point on June 17, 1935.
He worked at Buttery Foods until 1942, when he went to work for the Great Northern Railway until his retirement in July of 1974.
He enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren, traveling, fishing, camping, gardening and playing cards.
He lived in Havre and Mesa, Ariz., before moving to Springfield, Ore., in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Luella; daughters, Shirley Dean of Libby, Donna Campbell of Havre, and Mary Hanchett of Harlowton; son, John Sooy of Springfield, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; brother, Les Sooy of Modesto, Calif.
