Ellen (Felt) Wastweet, 86, formerly of Shelby and recently of Havre, was called home on Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Shelby. Burial will take place at a later date at Sell Lake Church in Shevlin, Minn.
Born May 11, 1915, to Anna and Henry Felt in Bemidji, Minn., Ellen was raised in Shevlin,
Minn., attending school at Bear Creek School and Bemidji High School. She worked as a bookkeeper in Bagley after high school.
In 1940, Ellen mar-
ried Marv Wastweet in Shevlin at Sell Lake Church where both Marv and Ellen were baptized and confirmed. Ellen worked as a nurses' aide in Walker, Minn., until moving to Shelby in 1951.
While in Shelby, Ellen worked in various supper clubs as a waitress until age 80. She was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she helped with the quality circle making quilt tops for many years. Ellen was also an Avon representative for several years in Shelby. Ellen and Marv moved to Havre July 2001 to live with their daughter when Ellen's health worsened. She loved being around people. Her warm and gentle spirit will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Ellen was preceded in death by an infant daughter Roberta, daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Delmar Fenger in 1990, twin brothers Carl and Robert, infant sister, and brother Vernon.
Survivors include her husband, Marv Wastweet of Havre; daughter, Mavis Filler of Havre; grandchildren, Jim Fenger, Brenda Bauer, Darrin Fenger and families of Kalispell; Pam West and family of Havre; and Christine Lambert and family of Great Falls; brother Ken Felt of Shevlin, Minn., and sister Shirley Powell of Waupen, Wis.
