MARILYN BARTOW, Obituary

GILLETTE, Wyo. Marilyn T. Bartow, 67, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at a Gillette, Wyo., nursing home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gillette, with Bishop Dave Dewey officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marilyn was born July 25, 1934, in Chinook to Amy Thompson. She was adopted by her grandparents, Neils and Josephine Thompson. She was raised in Chinook and graduated from high school in 1951. She worked at the soda fountain until she married Albert "Leroy" Bartow at her home in Chinook on Nov. 25, 1952.

They moved to Cut Bank, where he worked in the oil industry and they started their family. They moved to Gillette in 1962, where she became an active leader in the Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for 20 years as librarian for CCSD at Lakeview Elementary, until she retired due to health reasons. She enjoyed genealogy research and also spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother, and four brothers, Leif, Norman, Grant and Levi Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy Bartow; sons, Bob Bartow, Ed Bartow, Jon (Vicky) Bartow, Brian (Theresa) Bartow and Chris Bartow, all of Gillette, Wyo., Tim Bartow of Rolla, Mo.; daughter, Amy (Michael) Just of Gillette; sisters, Bill Phips, Ruth Brandon, Gina Ettien and Betty Bauer, all of Havre; 14 grandchildren; eight grandchildren.
