St. Jude joins celebration, unveils memorial

By Tim Leeds

National Catholic Schools Week is under way, and as part of the celebration, St. Jude Thaddeus School has unveiled a new feature in the school a memorial wall.

The memorial section is on the wall across from the principal's office and is framed by decorative pillars and an arch. A cross is in the center of the memorial.

The school will place an engraved memorial tag on the wall whenever someone makes a memorial donation. Nine donations had been made at the time of the unveiling.

People donating $500 to $1,915 become part of the St. Jude's Club of the memorial wall. People donating $1,916 to $4,899 become part of the Founder's Club, the amount commemorating the school's founding in 1916. People donating $4,900 or more become part of the Forty-Niner's Club, in honor of the school's mascot.

The unveiling of the wall is one of several activities St. Jude's is holding for National Catholic Schools Week. The first activity was a family dance on Saturday.
