LEWISTON Sat'Fon Lawson posted season-highs with 26 points and 14 rebounds in leading Lewis-Clark State to an 88-62 win over Montana State University-Northern in a Frontier Conference men's basketball game Thursday night at Warrior Gymnasium.
James Idoko came off of the bench to add a season-high 18 points for Lewis-Clark State (17-7, 6-2 Frontier). Jason Brazier added 13 points and six rebounds while Beau Barney chipped in with 10 points. The Warriors dominated the paint, outscoring the Lights 50-28 and outrebounding them 46-30.
Spencer Lazosky tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead MSU-Northern (14-10, 3-5). Josh Hays and Jermaine Walton added 11 points apiece.
A 17-3 run by LCSC to open the second half broke open what was a close game. The Lights did not score a field goal in the first 6:04 of the second half. Faheem Nelson broke the drought with a lay-up. Northern whittled the lead down to 13 with 8:05 remaining, but a 16-3 run by the Warriors put the game out of reach.
Lewis-Clark State will host Great Falls on Saturday night, while MSU-Northern travels to Salt Lake City to take on Westminster.
Lewis-Clark State head coach George Pfeifer tied former LCSC Athletic Director and basketball coach Dick Hannan's 212 career victories, the most in the school's program. Hannan is currently the commissioner of the NCAA Division II's Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
