  • The very first Super 15

George Ferguson Havre Daily News sports editor

For years, a faction of people have suggested having an all-class state high school basketball tournament. There's also been years in which state champions from all of the classifications have played non-sanctioned games after the season ends in order to determine the best of the best in Montana. Simply put, in basketball, there's times when classification doesn't mean as much. So in honor of that theory, the Havre Daily News sports staff has decided to put together its own Super 15 boys and girls basketball polls each week....

"This is probably our biggest grind of the year," Havre High head coach Scott Filius said. "The Rocky Mountain (Missoula Invite) is always just a...

Things were just a little bit different for the Havre High girls basketball team this week. And in preparation for not only their next two games, but maybe even the remainder of the season, the Ponies are focusing on themselves. Tonight the Ponies will host the conference rival Browning Indians at the Havre High gymnasium at 7 p.m. And on Saturday, the Ponies will return to action as they take to the road to...

A separate bill, House Bill 68, would require a licensing fee to pay for the cost of regulation by t...

It was the thrill of a lifetime last year when Kelsey Standing Rock's basketball team, the Rocky Boy Stars, won the Montana Class B championship. He was the only freshman on the team. JOAN LOWY, Associated Pres

WASHINGTON — Texting, emailing or chatting on a cellphone while driving is simply too dangerous to be allowed, federal safety investigators declared Tuesday, urging all states to impose total bans except for emergencies. Inspired by recent deadly crashes — including one in which a teenager sent or received 11 text messages in 11 minutes before an accident — the recommendation would apply even to hands-free devices, a much stricter rule than any current state law. Historians say organized mining began in the area in 1889 and persisted through the e...
