    State Democrats are bringing their tour to talk with people about creating and maintaining jobs in the state to Havre Monday. The "Business and Jobs Listening Tour" stop will be held at the Hill County Electric Hospitality Room Monday starting at 6 p. m. Democratic legislators, including Rep.     At the official opening of a race that has been heating up for more than a year, candidates for a U. S. Senate seat came out firing Thursday. Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., officially filed as a candidate Thursday in the race for the seat now held by Democratic Sen. Jon Tester.   • Friday's Prep Basketball: Havre girls nip Browning; Pony boys fall at home

    The Havre High girls basketball team won in dramatic fashion on the road Friday night. The Ponies improved to 4-0 in the Central A Conference with a 55-53 win over the Browning Indians. The Ponies are at home Saturday to host the Conrad Cowgirls. Friday night wasn't as good for the HHS boys. Browning crushed the Blue Ponies 64-36 at the HHS gymnasium.     In preparation for the Missoula Invite today and Saturday, the Havre High wrestling team first made a quick stop in Great Falls for a non conference dual with the CMR Rustlers. Thursday the Ponies were in Great Falls, where they took on the Rustlers.   • Our View: HHS proposal endangers rural medicine

    Since the Hi-Line Sletten Cancer Center opened in Havre, the quality of care to Hi-Line residents has increased substantially. A proposed federal regulation endangers at least some of that care, and the proposal should be rejected out of hand. Under the proposal being studied by a Department of Health and Human Services panel, a radiation oncologist will have to be present every time radiation treatment is administered. The Salvation Army's Christmas Assistance Program and Red Kettle Campaign were great successes this year.     The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees has joined a group of Class A school districts around Montana to help take their issues to the Montana Legislature during the coming legislative session.
