    Paul Dragu|Updated Jan 30, 2017

Havre High School’s attendance policy has caused controversy for some students and parents who say the policy keeps students who are passing from graduating. His passing grade indicates that her son has demonstrated a sufficient grasp of the subject, and more important, she said, Skylar’s speech class is the difference between her s...

  • Thanks to the community on speech divisionals

    Tim Leeds|Updated Jan 23, 2017

I am going to do something I probably shouldn’t do while doing something I should do, mix my jobs while thanking north-central Montana for its giving, volunteer nature both in specific and in general. It has been my privilege to coach on Havre High School’s speech and debate team for the last 16 years and we have held many tournaments, from small meets to two-state tournaments, in that time, and the community always has been legendary in its stepping up to help. That happened again this weekend when Havre hosted the high sch...

The Lights didn't quite get there, finishing fifth Saturday with 102 points, but they showed once again why they're one of the top NAIA teams. Against an elite field of their biggest NAIA rivals, the Lights advanced two grapplers to the finals, won an...

    George Ferguson|Updated Jan 23, 2017

Having already swept the Montana Tech Orediggers and Lewis-Clark State Warriors once this season, and knowing they have to go back to Butte and Lewiston, Idaho, next month, the Montana State University-Northern Lights were trying to make sure they went four-for-four with their arch rivals. And the Lights started that mission off right with a resounding 62-36 win over Tech Friday night inside the Armory Gymnasium. Northern, which leads the NAIA in scoring and field goal...
