  • McLean named Montana lieutenant governor

    HELENA (AP) — Gov. Steve Bullock has named Board of Regents chairwoman Angela McLean as lieutenant governor. McLean will replace John Walsh, whom the Democratic governor appointed last week as interim U.S. senator. Bullock's office announced McLean's appointment Monday. She is a native of Twin Bridges and a schoolteacher in Anaconda. Bullock says McLean will help ensure the state's schools and colleges are giving students the tools they need to build a bright future for the state.   • Police: Missoula robber not likely escaped suspect

    MISSOULA (AP) — Police say they've found no indication a man who robbed a Motel 6 and a Taco Bell in Missoula is the person who escaped from the police station in Bozeman after his arrest on suspicion of sexual assault.     The Havre High boys basketball team sent its seniors out with a win. In a huge Central A showdown Saturday night in Havre, the Blue Ponies beat rival Lewistown 61-56. Sophomore Dane Warp scored 30 points for HHS, who travels to Rocky Boy next Saturday. In Lewistown, the Havre girls suffered a 56-48 to the Eagles.   • Hobbs sentenced in Stone Child thefts

    The second of two men who have pleaded guilty to breaking into the Stone Child College bookstore at Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation and stealing cash and items including seven iPod Touches, an iPod Nano, headphones and jackets was sentenced in federal court in Great Falls Thursday. John Owen Hobbs Jr, 31, pleaded guilty to theft from an Indian tribal organization Nov. 14. His co-defendant, Robert Allen Bradford III, pleaded guilty Oct. 15 to the same charge.     Sometimes, a team is just too good. That's been the case for the Fairfield High girls baksketball team for 94 straight games now. The Class B Eagles ran their incredible winning streak to 94 straight by beating the Havre Blue Ponies 63-37 Friday night at the HHS gymnasium. The HHS boys also lost at Fairfield 68-62 Friday night.     The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team proved that there's no such thing as a sure thing. Bohlinger will 'probably' end Senate campaign

    HELENA (AP) — Former Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger says he will probably drop out of U.S. Senate race after his Democratic opponent was appointed to replace Sen. Max Baucus. Bohlinger said Friday he saw the handwriting on the wall when Gov. Steve Bullock picked Lt. Gov. John Walsh to fill Baucus' term.     Several families in the Havre area are on the verge of becoming homeless because they are being evicted, and social services agencies that serve them have no funds left to help. That was the dire news from Trina Crawford, the executive director of Havre’s Salvation Army.     Richard "Dick" Alan Lucas was born in Havre, Mont. to Orval Ashley Lucas and Mamie Helen Marie McGee on Oct. 8, 1931. He died peacefully on Jan. 31, 2014, in Salt Lake City following a long struggle with COPD. He and mom, Dorothy Ann Kostman, were married for many years but eventually divorced. Jamie Lieberg was crowned Mr. Blue Pony 2014 after a grueling competition between peers.
