  • Ponies win close ones

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 15, 2016

Last month, the Havre High girls basketball team swept the Lewistown Golden Eagles and Rocky Boy Morning Stars in pretty convincing fashion. And the Blue Ponies did the same this weekend. But, the sweep was much more difficult to come by. On Friday night, Havre captured a crucial Central A win in Lewistown, as the Ponies beat the Eagles 42-38 to improve to 7-0 in the Central A and remain one game ahead of Browning heading into the final week of the regular season. On Friday night, Havre honored special seniors Dane Warp, Jerod Boles, Nate Rismon, Zack Hunt and Bridger Bibeau before the group’s last game inside the HHS gymnasium. But better yet, the best to way to honor the seniors was to go out and play well and beat rival Lewistown in an important Central A s...

Friday night’s dual against the Iowa Hawkeyes was going to be the biggest moment in the wrestling lives of the Montana State University-Northern grapplers. How could it not be? • A Dual for the Ages

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 15, 2016

Sports, most of the time, don’t turn out like the movies. The decided underdog doesn’t win, unlike the movie where the guy, no matter the odds stacked against him, always seems to get the girl in the end. No matter how big an underdog the Montana State University-Northern Lights were when they faced off against the Iowa Hawkeyes in a historic meeting, and in front of a record crowd inside the Armory Gymnasium Friday night, the Lights, and their fans won, no matter the fin...
