    Updated at 10:32 p.m.: It started with the Box Elder Bears upsetting the Chinook Sugarbeeters in the first 9C girls semifinal Thursday night in Havre. But the surprises kept coming as the Fort-Benton-Geraldine Longhorns knocked off the Chester/J-I Hawks in the nightcap. The Bears, who beat two-time defending champion Chinook 48-45, will face the Longhorns, who beat the Hawks 35-32 in the late semifinal. The championship game is set for 8:30 p.m. Friday night.     Hill County officials met Wednesday morning to discuss a pressing issue: the Hill County Detention Center's critical state.   • Great Falls firm lowest bidder on sewage treatment plant

    Dick Anderson Construction Co. of Great Falls is the apparent low bidder for the overhaul to the city of Havre’s wastewater treatment facility. The firm bid $9,585,130. That is nearly $1.5 million higher than engineer estimates for the project, and City Public Works Director Dave Peterson said city officials will have to go back and review the project to see if costs can be cut.   • Residents seek solutions to drainage woes

    Residents in the Bullhook Drainage Area on Havre’s southside are looking at the possibility of a Special Improvement District to help alleviate drainage problems. About 30 residents of Bullhook Boulevard and adjacent areas gathered at City Hall Wednesday night to discuss the idea with Public Works Superintendent Dave Peterson. Wednesday, Melody Billy Henry and her husband, Frank Gregory Henry, went through the second day of their trial.     Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation is getting more than $3 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of the department’s allocations to American tribes every year. The Fort Belknap Indian Community is receiving $1,624,233 from the department for their housing projects. Montana tribes are receiving a collective $27 million and, nationwide, $651 million is being given to 636 Native American tribes in 34 states, according to a press release from the department.
