A Havre psychologist who practiced at Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation pleaded guilty today in federal court in Great Falls to charges of bribery and tax fraud at the reservation. James Howard Eastlick Jr. pleaded guilty to one charge in each of three cases filed against him, with remaining charges including all in another case to be dismissed. HELENA (AP) — Federal officials say more than 36,000 people in Montana selected insurance plans under the nation's health-care overhaul law by the March 31 deadline. MISSOULA (AP) — The special prosecutor in Barry Beach's 1984 murder trial says the case has been exhaustively reviewed and the state Board of Pardons and Parole should reject Beach's recent clemency application. Beach was sentenced to 100 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the 1979 killing of Kim Knees near Poplar. Both were 17 at the time. Former Gov. HELENA (AP) — The commissioner of political practices has found that one of his predecessors violated Montana campaign practices laws. But Commissioner Jonathan Motl says there is no way to enforce Thursday's decision against David Gallik. Gallik was commissioner from May 2011 to January 2012. During that time, Gallik signed a tax form as the treasurer for a political group called Council for a Sustainable America. A candlelight vigil was held in Rocky Boy in remembrance of Kaidynce Small, the 11-month-old child who died October 21. The vigil was held on the last day of Child Abuse Awareness Month to raise awareness for the issue and to remember Kaidynce. Friday, Small's father, Garrett "Kirby" LaFromboise, was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison for assaulting his son that night. In 2013, 80 tons of material that otherwise would have headed toward the landfill was recycled by people using Recycle Hi-Line's oprograms. Recycle Hi-Line recycle drives have become a huge success, said the group's chair, Candi Zion. "We anticipate that this year's numbers will be even bigger," she said. A walk to raise awareness for Williams Syndrome, an uncommon developmental condition, will begin at Havre’s Town Square at 4 p.m. Sunday. Tuesday was a very successful day for the Havre High boys and girls tennis teams in Great Falls. Now, the Blue Ponies will try to build on that success. After a week off, the Montana State University-Northern rodeo teams continued their season this past weekend. The Lights and Skylights were in Glendive for the Dawson Community College Rodeo, and the Skylights were especially strong. Northern earned a fifth-place finish in the team competition. The three Hi-Line United soccer teams are already several games into their 2014 seasons, but there is still plenty of soccer action coming up for the local talent. Once again, the United have put together three teams, including the U19 co-ed team, the U18 girls team, and the U16 co-ed team.
