    National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for north-central Montana including Blaine, Chouteau, Hill and Liberty counties, with two inches of rain — up to three in some areas — expected to fall through Friday evening. The notice says most streams are below their banks at this point, but the steady rain expected could cause levels to rise quickly.     NorthWestern Energy Corp. has agreed to purchase Devon Energy Co.’s natural gas production interests in the Bear Paw Basin. A NorthWestern spokesman said the purchase is part of the company effort to create “vertical integration,” meaning the company will both produce and transmit natural gas. The purchase includes Devon’s 82 percent ownership in Havre Pipeline Co., the company announced Tuesday.     First, the men got started a little over a month ago. Now, the ladies are off and running. Ladies league kicked off Thursday night at Prairie Farms to the tune of good weather and plenty of good golf by all. On the first night of the season, Golden Spike, Independent Inspection and Prairie Farms each scored 20 points to tie for high-team honors.   • Rocky Boy's Olson captures two medals

    After a earning a Class B state cross country championship back in the fall, Rocky Boy distance runner Kyle Olson had his sights set on track and field gold this past weekend in Bozeman. And while Olson din’t reach the top of the medal stand in the premier Class B distance races last weekend at the Class B state track meet, he certainly gave it his all.     Jan. 18 1933 – May 23, 2013. On the 23rd of May 2013, Raymond A. Frey, at the age of 80 years, said his final farewell to his family and friends. Ray was the second born child to Amelia Lydia (Phillippi) Frey and John Frey of Kremlin, Mont. Ray was born Jan. 18, 1933. He attended school in Kremlin, Mont., where he lived and worked at the family farm with his parents until 1951.     The Hill County Commission is looking to appoint a new member to the county’s Park Board. Board member Mel Gomke is retiring after 12 years. The person appointed will serve out the remainder of his term, ending May 1, 2014. The board oversees operations of county parks, including three parks in North Havre, the swimming pool in Hingham and parks in Kremlin, Gildford and Rudyard as well as the 10,000-acre Beaver Creek Park south of Havre.     A Havre woman pleaded no contest in her first court appearance to charges she assaulted two children in her care last October. Laurie Morin-Beck, born in 1960, pleaded no contest in state District Court in Havre Tuesday to two felony charges of assault on a minor under a plea agreement. By entering a plea of no contest, Morin-Beck does not admit to committing a crime but agrees the evidence would likely lead to a conviction.
