The Havre City-County Airport will get a $144,900 U.S. Department of Transportation grant to do design work for repairs and improvements to its taxiways, Sen. Steve. Daines announced. Runway work at the airport was recently completed, said Tony Dolphay, the newly appointed airport manager. Now the airport board has turned its attention to reconstruction of the taxiways and aprons. The Hill County Sheriff's Office is urging the public to be careful when camping. People are advised not to leave camp sites unattended, not to leave valuable items outside, and to be sure and lock camper and vehicle doors when away or asleep for the night. An incident was reported early Thursday morning in which two intruders broke into a camper near Railroad Pager's campground in Beaver Creek Park. Local resident Jaxon Simonson, 20, said he and his younger cousin each had their pickup trucks stolen one day apart. The Havre Police Department dispatch log shows that his cousin’s 2004 Ford truck was reported stolen Wednesday at 6:49 a.m., and Simonson reported his 1977 Ford truck stolen Thursday at 11:16 a.m. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning that the 2004 Ford truck, the first one reported, was recovered later that same day, about a block away. "From the first note, they were great," Havre high Band Director David Johnke said. It's not every year that a school from Havre represents Montana in the country's capital. And until July 4, 2016, a Havre band has never marched on Constitution Avenue on Independence Day. Ronald Evan "R.E." Swenson, 92, of Chinook passed away of natural causes Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 26, 2015, at The Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinoo.
