    The first 4-H-hosted Great Northern Fair Pinewood Derby saw 17 participants Saturday afternoon in front of the Chuckwagon. Despite technical troubles that meant racing results would have to be counted the old-fashioned way, the event would not be spoiled.     Wednesday, July 19, 2017, following a brief illness, Robert Raymond Gruber, 91, was called home to his family. A descendant of Montana homesteaders, Bob was born in Townsend, Montana, to Edward and Dora Gruber Feb. 4, 1926. The sixth of nine children, Bob attended Riverside School District 31 in Crow Creek Valley near Toston. District 31 was a one-room school house with eight students. Six were Grubers.
