    John Kelleher|Updated Sep 14, 2015

For more than two decades, she's been organizing the effort to clean up the city twice a year - at springtime and the weekend before Festival Days. Community groups were invited to fan out throughout the community and pick a summer's worth of trash that had accumulated in open spaces, across fields and on streets throughout Havre. They were supposed to come between 9 a.m. and...

  • Number of Canadian visitors to Hi-Line falls

    Alex Ross|Updated Sep 14, 2015

Signs that read “Havre Welcomes Canadians” still grace the windows of stores and restaurants throughout the city, but with their currency falling in value, area businesses say they are seeing fewer Canadians. “It's been real heavy,” said Scott Young, owner of Norman’s, a western clothing and apparel store on 3rd Avenue. “They're not coming down anymore.” The Canadian dollar as of Friday afternoon is worth 75 cents to the U.S dollar, and has been experiencing a decline in value over the past year. Unlike the U.S dollar, the st...

    John Kelleher|Updated Sep 14, 2015

Havre Pride wasn’t the only project that had a successful weekend. Recycle Hi-Line had its monthly recycle drive at Pacific Steel & Recycling. More people are bringing materials and more are separating the material by class, more recycling is being accomplished and there is less work for volunteers to do, according to Christy Keto of Recycle Hi-Line. People were anxious to come out, she said, because it was a gorgeous day. She credited the work of “a hardworking handful of volunteers and grateful recyclers” “We appreci...

    Chris Peterson|Updated Sep 14, 2015

There is no doubt that Havre High quarterback Dane Warp broke the Montana record for most touchdown passes for 11-man football Friday against Miles City. Yet, there is still some debate about whether or not Warp has broken the Montana High School Association record for passing yards. As far as the MHSA record book is concerned, the record coming into the season was 8,907 yards, a mark set by former Billings Senior quarterback Mark Desin. Entering his senior season, Warp had...

Yet, what ensued after the opening kickoff, is the exact opposite of what the Blue Ponies had intended. The game between the two long time non-conference rivals was competitive for a quarter, then the Cowboys showed their superiority in a 54-28 rout last Friday night at Denton Stadium in Miles City. “Miles City played very well.
