  • Montana's gay marriage decision could come sooner

    HELENA (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court's denial of five states' appeals against gay marriage is a good sign for those challenging marriage bans in other states, such as Montana, according to an official with the Montana ACLU. The organization's legal challenge of Montana's gay marriage ban should be resolved more quickly now, Montana ACLU Legal Director Jim Taylor said.   • State property appraisal: Hill Co. farmers pay more, businesses less

    While the total should come out to be a wash statewide and in Hill County, state Department of Revenue tax value appraisals could mean some major shifts in taxes in this area.     KALISPELL (AP) — Authorities arrested the editor of a weekly newspaper in Polson while he was taking photographs at the scene of a non-fatal highway crash in Montana. Vince Lovato, 53, was accused of interfering with the investigation of a head-on crash on Montana Highway 35 on Oct. 1, Lake County sheriff's spokeswoman Karen Sergeant told KERR-AM. In front of a fired up crowd at the Havre Ice Dome Saturday night, the Nationals defeated the Yellowstone Quake 4-2 in a shootout to earn their first win of the 2014-15 season.
