    The number of Native Americans in the Hill County Detention Center became a topic at a meeting between Ravalli County officials and Confederated Salish and Kootena tribal leaders.     The Havre High School speech and debate competitors did not win any individual first-place awards — although some came very close — but still dominated the Class A competition in Choteau Saturday to win their third first-place trophy this season.     The Blue Pony Booster Club is in need of nomination for the Dr. Jim Elliott Memorial Award. Dr. Elliott’s family gave the first award in 2001 and purchased a plaque that hangs in a trophy case in Havre High School’s west foyer with the name of each recipient engraved on it. The Booster Club has been given the responsibility from the Elliott family of choosing someone to receive this award.     North Central Montana Transit is going ahead with its plans to have a city bus run that will transport people around Havre twice a day. The proposal is a good start toward providing the city a service it desperately needs. The bus service runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We hope that if it is a success, it will be extended. The bus will take people to key parts of the city — shopping areas and medical facilities for a reasonable price.     A Rocky Boy man will spend more than seven years in federal prison for threatening and sexually abusing a woman, including pouring gasoline over her and saying she would burn. Blair Chiefstick, 22, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated sexual abuse in federal District Court in Great Falls. Chief District Court Judge Dana Christensen sentenced Chiefstick Thursday in the court in Great Falls to 87 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, said a press release issued Friday afternoon.     Local residents again have been invited to a decades-old community celebration of Thanksgiving, even in their own homes, funded by an anonymous donor.     Havre Sector U.S. Border Patrol agents continue to help local law enforcement and emergency services, even when they are off duty.     All in all, it was a solid opening weekend for the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey program. To open up the season, the Ice Hawks played two games at the Havre Ice Dome in Havre on Saturday.
