Participants will work with a number of adult leaders during each session discussing a variety of issues that affect their community and gaining insight into the complex decision-making that is essential in addressing those issues.

Chair: Terry Schend Debbie Callahan, Jennifer Kinsella, Garrett Edmonds, Rick Sedahl, Tracy Job, Dave Clausen, John McLain and Debbie Vandeberg To create a community gathering place for the townspeople of Havre, the surrounding communities and visitors that will enhance the sense of community of Havre, improve community pride, increase local tourism and beautify the city’s main thoroughfare. Events in the square that will bring the community together S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Market — a farmers market for the community — with community and area participants held each Saturday from July-September. 2009 was a record year for the market with over 38 vendors participating and on averaged 32 vendors each Saturday. Kicks @ 6! — has grown to be the Wednesday activity to meet friends and enjoy dinner with friends and co-workers. This community activity has provided a venue for area organizations to host barbcue’s as fundraisers for community projects — like Relay for Life and United Way to name a couple. Community Tree Lighting — an annual holiday event to kick off the season — complete with music, caroling, vendors and the arrival of Santa. Other events at the Square — The Community Day of Prayer, the kick off for the Relay for Life and the March of Dimes Walk and the Veterans Day remembrance at the Veteran’s Wall at the Square.

Goal 1: Educate residents and business leaders about the local tourist attractions and their economic impact. Activities: a. Activities during National Tourism Week to educate the local community. b. Educate residents and employees. Exploring our own back yard. Stay–cation contest. c. Partnership project that creates a referral system for tourists. Goal 2: Continue to encourage tourism to the HiLine area. Activities: a. Work closely with area attractions and Russell Country. b. Keep all local high trafï¬c spots stocked: motels, airport, depot, mall and attractions. c. Take advantage of Russell Country co-op dollars for updating brochures, billboards and marketing opportunities. billboards — east 2010, north 2011 — use co-op funds. d.
