The afternoon session of semifinal Thursday at the District 9C tournament in Havre was a doubleheader between Chinook and Box Elder, and when it was all over, one of each will get a chance to play for 9C championships.
The Chinook girls steamrolled to a 61-29 win over Box Elder Wednesday, moving the Beeters into the 9C championship game Saturday against either North Star or Big Sandy. Makhayla Farmer scored 12 pointsa to lead Chinook, while Rebecca Rossette led Box Elder with eight. The Bears play in loser-out action Friday at 1 p.m.
In the boys game, Box Elder cruised past the Beeters, 57-43. Box Elder will either face HLP or Big Sandy in Saturday night's champioship, while Chinook plays North Star in a loser-out game Friday afternoon. Lonnie Plain Bull Jr. scored 28 points for Box Elder, while Layne Seymour scored 22 for the Beeters.
