The Chester/J-I Hawks had a Friday to remember at the Northern C girls divisional tournament in Great Falls. And they're not done yet. Friday night at the Four Seasons Arena, the Hawks downed their second straight 9C opponent, beating the North Star Knights 43-30 in the girls consolation game. The win over the Knights not only gave the Hawks a third-place finish, but they will challenge either Belt or Winnett-Grass Range for second and a berth in the Class C state tournament Saturday at 5 p.m.

Earlier Saturday, the Hawks won their second straight loser-out game and it was their third straight overtime game of the tournament. After losing in the first round to North Star Wednesday, the Hawks stayed alive by beating Roy-Winifred in OT. Then, Friday morning, C/J-I took down another rival when the Hawks eliminated Chinook with a 48-43 win in overtime. North Star reached the conoslation game with a 40-30 win over Dutton-Brady Friday morning. The Sugarbeeters season ended Friday with a 18-5 overall record. The Knights finished the season with a great run in Great Falls and a 17-7 overall record.
