HHS swims back in Great Falls

When the Havre High boys and girls swim teams jump into the pool at the Swarthout Fieldhouse Saturday in Great Falls, the Blue Ponies will certainly know their opponent.

On Saturday at 12 p.m., the Ponies are back in Great Falls, where they'll compete against the Great Falls High Bison and CMR Rustlers for a third time this season. HHS already hosted both teams in a double-dual in Havre last month, then the following week, competed against the squads in a pair of meets in Great Falls.

Now, the Ponies will do so again, and they are hoping to build some momentum as the all-class state swimming championships are now less than a month away.

Havre comes to Great Falls after competing in the Class a Meet last weekend in Hardin. The Ponies saw plenty of individual success on both sides, including outstanding meets from Katie Johnson, Kacie Johnson, Brooke Jappe, Megan Obrecht and Kaity McKnight on the girls team. The HHS boys were led by Evan Flathers and Courtlan Vukasin, both of whom scored in multiple events in Hardin.

But when Havre competes against the Class AA schools, the Ponies hang tough because of good relay teams, and they will hope to do so again on Saturday. Havre's freestyle and medley relay teams have turned in great times on both the boys and girls teams all season, and on both sides, the relays will be a huge factor for HHS in the postseason.

HHS's trip to GFH and CMR gets underway at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Ponies then head to Missoula next weekend.
