Girls basketball is getting exciting on the Hi-Line. And there's less than a month left in the regular season, so every game

is intense.

This past weekend saw plenty of intensity around the area, with two of the premier Class C programs in the state going a perfect 3-0.

Box Elder and Chester/J-I started a perfect week of basketball, each with wins on Tuesday night.

In Box Elder, the unbeaten Bears earned a 66-59 win over the Malta Junior Varsity team Tuesday night, but the Bears had to go to overtime to do it. Box Elder led in the fourth quarter, but M-Ette's staged a furious rally to send the game into OT. However, the Bears were up to the challenge as they outs cored Malta 15-8 in the extra frame.

Aricka Wolf Chief and Crystal Stamper led the Bears with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Brandi Buffalo and Tristan Parisian each added 11.

Things were easier for the Hawks Tuesday night in Chester. C/J-I ran past visiting Dutton-Brady, 53-24 behind a game-high 19 points from Stina Haaland. Kate Graff and Nikole Wolfe scored eight each in the 10C win.

There was also a big Class B showdown Tuesday night in Harlem. And the Rocky Boy Morning Stars stormed their way to their first win of the season, beating Harlem 73-46 in a game Rocky Boy never trailed.

Tesche Ereaux scored 16 points and Coco Moore added 14 for the Wildcats, while the Morning Stars got a career-high 24 points by Leigha Onco. Tennae Singer and Tracy Daychild added 10 points each for the Morning Stars.

In a critical 9C showdown on Thursday night, the Chinook Sugarbeeters took it to the North Star Knights in Chinook. The Beeters led all the way, but used a 16-6 run in the fourth quarter to really pull away for the 51-31 conference win.

Taryn Norby scored 12 points for the Beeters, while Alana Smith, Haley Swank and Kayla Hanson each added a balanced 10. The Knights were led by Shelby Lipp with 13 points. Taylor Warren added six in the loss.

There was an even bigger 9C showdown Friday night in Big Sandy, but on the night, the Pioneers were no match for Box Elder. The Bears trailed the Pioneers by two points after eight minutes, but then went on a 27-10 run which eventually led to a 91-64 win.

Box Elder's offense was on fire Friday night as Aricka Wolf Chief and Brandi Buffalo each scored 23 points. Those numbers offset a career-high 30 points by Big Sandy's Mateila Cline. Molly Herron chipped in with 10 points for the Pioneers.

C/J-I kept on rolling Friday as well. The Hawks traveled to, and dismantled Sunburst 50-20 for another 10C win. Jenni Ghekiere scored 14 points and Macky Sangwin added seven in the victory over the Refiners.

Friday night was about bouncing back for Harlem. The Wildcats went on the road and got an important, 52-47 2B win over rival Poplar. Harlem used a 15-4 run in the second quarter to gain an edge, then held off the Indians in the second half.

Tesche Ereaux was again the force for the Wildcats as she poured in 24 points and three 3-pointers. Coco Moore scored 14 as well.

The Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds were on the wrong side of a lopsided outcome Friday night in Grass Range. The Winnett-Grass Range Rangers crushed the T-Birds 79-30. HLP got nine points each from Shakayla Whitecow and Kristie Runsabove in the loss.

Back in 9C action on Saturday, Box Elder finished off a big week with another huge 9C win. In Box Elder, the Bears took care of Chinook 50-39. The Beeters were within five points at halftime, but they couldn't climb any closer in the second half.

Aricka Wolf Chief led the way again, scoring 18 points for the Bears, while Brandi Buffalo added 13. Makhayla Farmer and Kayla Hanson scored 13 points each for Chinook.

C/J-I didn't have much of a battle to remain perfect on the week. The Hawks were home to face rival Simms on Saturday night, but the Tigers couldn't match C/J-I's firepower. The Hawks won 47-30 as they held the Tigers to four points in the second quarter and five in the third.

Nikole Wolfe led the way with 11 points, while Jenni Ghekiere added 10 and nine rebounds for C/J-I.

On the road Saturday night, the Big sandy Pioneers rebounded from their loss to Box Elder. The Pioneers traveled to Denton and defeated the Trojans 60-43 in a nonconference game.

Molly Herron paced Big Sandy with 19 points, while Mateila Cline dropped in 15. Brooke Leader added 10 for Big Sandy, which made eight 3-poiinters on the night.
