Hi-Line Cruz'n 27th Annual Rod Run

The Hi-Line Cruz’n’s annual Rod Run will be held this weekend at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.

Classic cars from around Montana, neighboring states and Canada will be on display. Registration begins Friday from 5 to 9 p.m, and continues Saturday, at 9 a.m.

The “Show ’N’ Shine” starts at 11 a.m. This is a time for the public to visit with car owners and look at the assortment of cars. The poker run will begin at 2 p.m, and will run to Marden’s Campground and back.

An engine “blow up” contest can be expected during the day as well. This is an event in which people pick a car and bet on how long it will take the engine to quit. If you are correct on time choice, the “pot” is split.

“This can last from a couple of seconds to several minutes,” said Craig Otterstrom, local car enthusiast and Hi-Line Cruz’n member.

Pitchfork fondue will be served with the award presentation at 6 p.m in the activity building, and the band Blind Luck will perform.

A theme is chosen each year, and this year, participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite, racing, musical, local or any other legend.

Event attendance has been very good in the past, up to 100 cars brought have been recorded. “Depending on the weather,” Otterstron said, “there may be 60 or so cars.”

The Montana Pioneer and Classic Auto Club, the club that has really old cars, will be spending Friday night in Havre.

People are are urged to stop by Friday evening at the fairgrounds, to check out the cars, eat, and visit with the touring car owners.
