Six bands lined up for Sounds on the Square

The arrival of summer means a variety of activities and one that has become increasingly popular and anticipated is the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce's summer music series Sounds on the Square at Town Square.

Last summer marked a change in Sounds on the Square music format by featuring a variety of local bands. That successful format will continue starting June 19 with the kick off to summer evening of music with Blind Luck.

This year’s roster of local bands performing at Sounds on the Square include:

• Stone Buddah Bluez, blues

• Milk River Band, country

• Electric Ranch, rock

• Enzymatic, rock 'n' roll

• Shovels & Shotguns, blues and rock

• Blind Luck, classic rock

• Shades of Blue, rock and blues

Sounds on the Square, sponsored by Devon Energy with supporting funds from the Sleeter Funds, continues through Aug. 21 with two hours of free, great music from 6 to 8 p.m. All events are weather permitting.

Pack up that picnic basket and dine al fresco with friends, neighbors and family at the Square all while enjoying the rhythm of the music. Make plans to now to relax each Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sounds on the Square “a place to have fun.”

I look forward to another great season of Sounds on the Square although I am very disappointed in the decision and action to not have food available through non profit fundraisers. Apparently local restaurants and businesses complained, loss of revenue? To keep it a win win, local business restaurants can have exclusitivity, but they should donate a portion of Wednesday night sales to local non profits of their choice, especially if their loss sales were so numerous!
