Pony golfers miss out due to weather

Friday was simply a bad weather day in Montana, and it affected more than just the Havre High football game at Blue Pony Stadium.

Severe thunderstorms popped all over the state Friday, including in the Glacier National Park area where the Havre High boys and girls golf teams were competing at the Browning Invitational.

Thunderstorms caused players to be pulled off the course at the East Glacier Lodge with most groups playing no more than nine holes before the storms set in.

From there, teams tried to wait the weather out for a while, but lightning and the threat of more sever weather coming in caused the tournament to be cancelled for the day.

The Blue Pony golf teams won't have to wait long to get back on the course however, as Havre has a busy week ahead. The Ponies attend the Lewistown Invitational Friday, then host the Havre Invite Saturday at Beaver Creek Golf Course.

Many football games Friday night were either delayed or canceled due to the storms, which seemed to cover much of Montana, including the Hi-Line.
