Blue Pony girls capture Billings Central Invite

The Havre High golf teams began the first of a two-day road trip with mixed results Thursday in Billings.

The Billings Central Invitational, held at Eagle Rock Golf Course, turned out to be a strong showing for the Blue Pony girls. Havre captured the team title with a total of 395, one of HHS’s best team scores of the season. The Blue Pony boys however, finished fifth with a 361.

Individually, the Havre girls were led by sophomore Payton Howard, who captured medalist honors with an outstanding 93. Fellow sophomore Randi Gabrielsen also placed in the Top 10 with a 97. Overall, the HHS girls were consistent, with seniors Katie Beck, Nikki Gabrielsen and Boston Swensen shooting 101, 104 and 105, respectively.

Sophomore Jeff Miller and junior Wyatt Lindbloom paced the Pony boys with equal rounds of 88 Thursday. Jerod Boles fired a 91, while freshmen Dustin Haas and Kane Gabrielsen shot 94 and 98, respectively.

The HHS golf teams remain in the Billings area for today’s Laurel Invitational at the Laurel Country Club.
