Lights remain in NAIA Top 25

A loss at Rocky Mountain College Saturday was difficult, but the Montana State University-Northern Lights are still getting national respect.

In this week’s NAIA Coaches Poll, the Lights dropped from No. 19 to No. 24, following their 23-13 defeat last Saturday at then No. 16 Rocky Mountain. Northern fell to 4-2 in the Frontier Conference and dropped from first to third place.

Meanwhile, the Battlin’ Bears (4-1, 5-1) moved up three spots to No. 13 this week. Rocky is alone in first place in the Frontier, leading Carroll College by a half of a game. The Fighting Saints had a bye this past weekend, but managed to climb two spots in Monday’s poll. Carroll now sits at No. 7 heading into its home game with Dickinson State on Saturday.

Carroll, Rocky and Northern are all ranked, while both UM-Western, which lost 20-0 at Eastern Oregon, and Southern Oregon, which crushed Montana Tech, received three votes in this week’s poll.

Northern has a bye this week before traveling to Southern Oregon Oct. 19.
