Boucher: Repair the streets

Havre City Council race, Ward 4

Matt Boucher is running for Ward 4 councilperson against Karen Datko in the elections underway.

Boucher, 27, graduated from Havre High School and was in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years, where he achieved the rank of sergeant and was a helicopter crew chief. He is an Iraq War veteran.

He has worked at Hi-Line Electric as an electrician for the last four years. Before that, he worked at Schine Electric.

He was out of the Marine Corps in June 2009 and started working at Schine in July 2009.

Boucher has been married to his wife for six-and-a-half years and has a 2-year-old son. His parents live in Havre. Boucher was born in Miles City, but moved to Havre when he was 4 years old.

“Havre is the only place I know,” Boucher said.

Boucher said he does not have an agenda if he becomes the Ward 4 council person.

“I would like to see to the repairs of the streets,” Boucher said. “It’s unreasonable to make promises about it, but I would like to take steps forward in repairing the streets.”

He said that while campaigning, many people ask him about the infrastructure of the city, the state of the streets and the state of the east end.

“The vacant buildings (in the east end) are a concern,” Boucher said.

When asked about what he would like to see different in the way City Council and the city government are run, Boucher said, “I’m all for people voting for the nonpartisan change on the ballot. It’s not a partisan issue for local deals.”

Boucher said he decided to run in the first place because a former politician asked him to.

“I had to be asked, so I felt like they wanted me,” Boucher said.

“I encourage everybody to vote and fill out their ballots,” Boucher said.

Yes, I know where I was at 4 years old. HERE. Growing up on the East End. I'm a native, born and raised here. No matter what you try to do or say, Matt is NOT a native because he wasn't born here. Where do people like you get your misinformation?

Comeon writes:

He has lived here since he was 4 years old. Do you remember anything about where you lived prior to the age of 4? Come on and give me a break

Getaclue writes:

I heard Matt's ad on the radio claiming to be a Havre native. By this article, he was born in Miles City. In order to be a native, you have to be born here. I don't care what crayon the Republicans have pulled out of the box for him to color with, he is NOT a native! Since he can't even get that straight, I will happily leave the Ward 4 Councilperson choice empty, as neither candidate is worthy of my vote.

I know Matt and he is the best choice for the ward 4 race. There is not a partisan party bone in his body. Unlike his opponent his only goal will be for what is best for Havre and he will not be spending all his time trying to make political party points
