Denny indicted for attempted murder

A man has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder stemming from a stabbing on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

Shane Hiawatha Denny, 37, pleaded not guilty last week in federal court in Great Falls to assault with the intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious injury.

Denny, who is in jail awaiting trial, is accused of stabbing someone in the back with a knife Sept. 17.

According to a court document, federal magistrate Judge Keith Strong scheduled a pretrial conference with Chief District Judge Dana Christensen for Nov. 6.

If convicted, Denny faces up to 25 years in prison and three years supervised release for the attempted murder charge and 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release for each of the other charges.

@kevin, we are given federal funds to help people who need it, we dont get it to have people try and hurt each other. keep your bigoted comments to yourself. there are people all over the world who steal, lie and cheat. it isnt just here. its beyond our control as to who does all the wrong things, there are honest people and there are dishonest people. which category do u fit in other than being one-sided?
