Beeters beat Knights, win 6C East title

That's it and that's all. After an exciting week of high school volleyball on the Hi-Line, the regular season is over, and it's now officially district tourney time.

Chinook clinched the District 6C East championship last Thursday by knocking off the North Star Knights in Gildford in a hard-fought match. Chinook won by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-20, giving the Beeters the top seed in this week's tourney.

Makhayla Farmer had 27 kills and 12 blocks for the Beeters. Hannah Weber added 18 assists and four aces. North Star was led by Melissa Pester and Bettie Carlon, who each had 13 kills. Kiera Miller had 10 blocks as well.

Rocky Boy and Harlem suffered tough district losses last Friday night.

In Rocky Boy, the Morning Stars fell to Conrad by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-21. Teshia Big Knife had three kills and Jurnee LaForge added two blocks in the 1B loss.

In Harlem, the Wildcats were beaten by Poplar by scores of 25-15, 28-26 and 25-18. Erin LaMere led the Wildcats with nine assists, eight service aces, 10 digs and a block. Ticia Cliff totaled five kills for Harlem.

Things didn't get any better for the Wildcats and Morning Stars on Saturday. Rocky Boy finished the regular season with a home loss to Shelby. The Coyotes beat the Morning Stars by scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-10. Codi Parker had two kills for Rocky Boy, while Rainey Singer totaled 17 digs and two aces.

In Glasgow Saturday, Harlem was swept by the host Scotties by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-9. Erin LaMere had six kills and 11 digs, while Jaylynn Allen had four assists for the Wildcats.

Saturday saw the Sugarbeeters earn a big, senior night win over Sunburst in Chinook. The Beeters swept the Refiners by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18. Makhayla Farmer had 13 kills and four blocks, while Brooke Nicholson totaled four of Chinook's 18 aces, Emily Dennis added 14 digs for the Beeters.

Big Sandy also got a big win on senior night. In the final 6C East match of the year, the Pioneers swept Chester/J-I by scores of 25-15, 25-6 and 25-22.

Molly Herron had 12 kills and Kaylie Gilman totaled two blocks for the Pioneers. Brooke Leader had 17 assists and four aces as well. C/J-I got three kills and eight digs by Denerey Haaland, while Allix Goldhahn also had three kills.

District tournaments will be held this week, including the 6C East tournament, which takes place Thursday and Friday in Rudyard.
