Elizabeth (Anderson) Killian

Elizabeth “Bette” Killian was born Aug. 11, 1930, the second of four daughters born to Harry E. and Wilma (Varner) Anderson.

Bette was raised in Chinook, graduating from high school in 1948. She attended Northern Montana College and spent many years working as a legal secretary for various firms in Oklahoma and Texas.

In 1956 she married Marion E. Killian in Helena, Mont. Bette passed away on Aug. 10, 2013, at a hospital in Las Cruces, N.M, just three hours before her birthday. Bette was cremated, and her ashes and those of her husband will be scattered in New Mexico.

Bette was preceded in death by her beloved husband; infant son, Robert Roy Hampton; her parents; sisters, Grace Wuerl and Jeanette Kaluza; brothers-in-law, Clay Wuerl and Al Johnson; and nephew, Bill Johnson.

She is survived by sister, Eleanor Johnson; brothers-in law, Phil Kaluza and Glenn (Sylvia) Killian; and nephews, Mike (Sharon) Wuerl, Steve (Carol) Wuerl and Jim (Debbie) Johnson; and nieces, Libby (Chuck) Atkinson, Jackie Allmond, Patti (Rod) Askim, Cheryl Kaluza Anderson and Lyndie (Ken) O'Toole, and many grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnephews. She is also survived by special friends and caregivers, Joe and Francisco (Paco) Durant, whom she loved like they were family.
