Kavulla seeks second PSC term

Montana Public Service Commissioner Travis Kavulla said this morning he has filed for re-election.

Kavulla, a Republican from Great Falls, represents PSC District 1, a sprawling district that includes Great Falls and central Montana as well as much of the Hi-Line.

“The PSC deals with billion-dollar decisions that impact Montanans not just now, but for generations to come. It is important that voters have someone on the PSC who is a hard worker, who does his research and asks the tough questions.” Kavulla said. “The PSC should not be a rubber stamp. A commissioner should not be a political hack.”

Kavulla was elected four years ago, defeating for State Rep. Democrat Don Ryan of Great Falls by 28 percentage points. No Democrats have surfaced to oppose him this year.

Kavulla was elected commissioner chair in 2011 when he formed an alliance with two Democrats on the five-member commission. He was replaced after the 2012 election, when Republicans won all five seats.
